Since Ancient Times, it has been known that bronze has a high level of corrosion and scratch resistance. In addition, it is also particularly resistant to saltwater. For a long time, bronze has therefore been the material of choice for precision instruments in the maritime or medical sectors. A welcome aesthetic side effect of the material is the warm hue, not unlike that of rose gold, which takes on a natural patina over time, as the surface oxidizes when it comes into contact with water, air and sun. The advantages of this “living” material do not change – the discoloration is only a testament to the age, which makes each watch unique.
Like every Erwin Sattler timepiece, the Time Commander Bronze, which is water-resistant to 50 meters, is characterized by particular attention to detail and excellent quality. The flat, gently rounded case with a height of just eleven millimeters creates a constantly changing play of light by alternating polished and satin surfaces. It surrounds the silver dial, which, with its emphatically simple typography and authentic railroad minute track, is reminiscent of the precise marine chronometers from the 19th century. In proper style, flame-blued and domed hands whose color form an expressive contrast with the background circle above it.
The outer elegance reflects the beauty of the underlying mechanics. The first-class automatic caliber of Swiss provenance is highlighted by the sapphire crystal case back. With its strict limitation to just 50 pieces, the Time Commander Bronze is aimed at collectors and enthusiasts who appreciate the values of classic watchmaking.
